About Us

Molly Mattoon

Molly's lifelong passion for health, wellness, and fitness has shaped her 25+ year career in the industry. Her journey began in 1997 as a group fitness instructor while earning her Bachelor of Science in Community Health at SUNY Potsdam, where she also worked as a student athletic trainer.

After moving to Maryland in 2001, Molly pursued dual paths—teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology at the high school level while continuing to lead group fitness classes throughout the Baltimore area. Her career later evolved to include senior healthcare settings across Maryland, Delaware, and Northern Virginia, though fitness instruction remained her true calling.

During the pandemic, Molly filled a critical need in her community by safely hosting "Backyard Bootcamps," providing both physical activity and social connection during an isolating time. This period also marked a significant personal journey when her young son developed what doctors considered a rare condition. Through extensive research and persistence in finding the right medical team, Molly experienced firsthand the transformative power of functional medicine and root cause healing.

This personal experience inspired her to deepen her professional expertise. In February 2023, she graduated as a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach from the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy—the only program designed in collaboration with The Institute for Functional Medicine and fully approved by the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching.

Inside-Out Wellness Studio represents the culmination of Molly's extensive experience and passion for integrated wellness. No detail was overlooked in creating a space optimized for client health and safety. Currently, Molly holds her Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach certificate and Group Fitness Instructor Certification through the American Council on Exercise. Her additional specialized certifications include Pumped Up Strength™, BOSU® HIIT Extreme, Barre Above™, TRX®, TRX® RIP® Training, Mossa Group Blast®, TRIGGER POINT® Foam Rolling, R.I.P.P.E.D®, and WaterCoach by WaterRower.

Amanda Hall

Amanda completed her 200-hour teacher training through The Embodied Warrior School of Yoga Teacher Training in Spring/Summer of 2024 at Pure Yoga Studio in Ocean City, Maryland. Amanda began practicing yoga at an early age of college along with team sports and quickly fell in love with the discovery and development of discipline yoga brought to her life at that time, it brought a sense of relief and growth into her life and has continued throughout her life. She wanted to become a certified Registered Yoga Instructor after unwavering dedication to her own individual practice and going to Costa Rica on yoga inspired retreats to continue to deepen her education, knowledge and practice. Yoga has helped her heal and grow in many ways making it a privilege to share the practice of yoga with others.

Yoga is our own practice to self-discovery, a lifelong practice of mind, movement, body and spirit that is so much more than poses on the mat. Amanda is grateful for her support from her students in the community as she steps into a teacher role to guide them through a physical practice by incorporating meditative and mindful vinyasa-style flows helping yogis cultivate compassion, acceptance of challenge to the mind and bodies while feeling strong stepping into their alignment. She loves restorative, yin and leading sound bowl immersion therapy. She continues to learn from each teacher and student and looks forward to seeing you on the mat! Outside of yoga, Amanda loves spending any ounce of free time homesteading in her flower and vegetable garden, hiking the next mountain, traveling, playing softball, lifting weights, chasing sunshine and her pack of Australian Shepherds while always looking for her next step in this adventure of life!

About Us

Laurel Brennan

Laurel's diverse movement background spans competitive dance, majorettes, gymnastics, lacrosse, and Tae Kwon Do—creating a rich foundation for her approach to functional fitness and yoga. Her formal career in the fitness industry began in 2000 as a personal trainer, evolving alongside her experiences as an Occupational Therapist and her international exposure while living abroad.

While living in the UK in 2004, Laurel earned her group fitness certification through Fitness Scotland, where she developed a unique teaching style blending martial arts principles with traditional aerobics and dance elements. Throughout these early years, she explored various yoga classes, noting the critical difference between instructors who pushed students potentially causing harm versus those who skillfully adapted practices to individual needs.

In 2006, Laurel's fitness journey took a profound personal turn following a Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis. This health crisis led her deeper into yoga as both a coping mechanism and physical therapy, while simultaneously introducing her to functional medicine principles. This personal health journey inspired further educational pursuits, culminating in her becoming a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200).

Today, Laurel brings this comprehensive background to Inside-Out while also running RootCauseology, a functional medicine practice specializing in women's brain health optimization and dementia risk reduction. Her classes uniquely integrate neurological health principles with movement, creating yoga experiences that nourish both body and brain. Her personal experience with chronic illness informs her compassionate teaching approach, making her classes particularly accessible for those managing health challenges.
